Blackberry - just downloaded, getting error message.

Blackberry - just downloaded, getting error message 'Bad or no connection' when trying to connect through any of the services. :(

Ok this could be down to two possible scenarios:-

1) On certain Blackberry handsets you need to do a hard reboot before the phone will recognise the application properly. This is easy to achieve by simply removing the back cover, then removing and replacing the battery. This will force the phone to check all its systems and update its applications database. What you may notice is the phone's security may pop up with a message saying "The application MobileTribe wishes to connect to the Internet, Do you want to allow this? " in this case you must select "Allow" or "OK" (Depending on the options presented by the handset) in order for the application to connect, this will only happen once in each session you load the client. All being well this should allow you to connect :D

or

2) A large number of BB handsets require you to set up the APN some APN settings are listed in this section of the forum http://forum.mobiletribe.net/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=15&sid=b9769dc16416e21bba254e879f0871a5#p17 more APN information can be found here http://www.opera.com/mini/help/connect/

Your service provider may not allow connection to our services. This can be investigated by contacting us using the contact us form on the website, you can get there by following this link http://www.mobiletribe.net/. If this is the case we will do all we can to get the service made available to you, but in some cases it is down the your service provider to allow access to our services over their network. :(

I hope this helps you to solve any problems, If you would like any further help the don't hesitate to start a new thread. We are here to help :-)

To even *GET* MT to allow me to attempt to login I had to go to OPTIONS--->APPLICATIONS--->MobileTribe and then hit the BB key and "allow" it to use "Connections" and "Interactions." It would, at least, ATTEMPT to login before failing.

I am still getting the "Bad or no connection" error but it's taking longer now. It will attempt the login (and even, on occasion, succeed with Yahoo, but no others).

I am using MT version 1.0.29 on a BlackBerry Bold 9000 (system software v4.6.0.167 and platform 4.0.0.217 downloaded from AT&T - nothing customized or futzed with) with 28.3mb of application memory available.

I have tried both WITH anbd WITHOUT 3G/WiFi, etc - I have also done the hard reset with the removal of the battery as well as a soft-reset *AND* attempted to reach the "dd-formmailer.php" page both on the BlackBerry AND my home PC to no avail (using Firefox 3.0.10, IE 7.0 and Opera 9 on the home PC and BOLT, the BlackBerry Browser, MediaNET Browser and Opera Mini on the Blackberry).

Sorry for the information inundation, but perhaps you can glean something from something within it.

Hi khorsia,

My colleagues advise me to check out the APN details on your handset and ensure it is set up correctly I have amended section 2 of the hints at the start of this thread to hopefully help. I found I had to set up the APN settings on my own BB handset before I could get the majority of my applications working correctly.

Hope this helps.
